Marine Special Products Group provides installation and maintenance services for boat air conditioning and heat, boat electronics and boat sanitation systems.
Founded by DG Fitton in 2006, Marine Special Products Group represents almost three decades of initially recreational and ultimately professional curiosity about all those special systems which put more comfort and pleasure into boating: air conditioning, heating, and sanitation systems as well as marine electronics and marine electrical work. We are deeply-skilled in our areas of expertise and take great pride in making happy boaters from New York to Newport.
Beyond our knowledge and skill in our areas of expertise, we take great pride in how we approach this business. Too often for our liking, we hear stories of unreliable, casual and sometimes unsavory behavior amongst our brethren in the marine trades. Our promise to our customers is simple: to show up on time, put forth our best effort and charge a fair price for our service. To us, the best compensation for a job well-done is a customer’s satisfaction. Click here to read what our customers say about working with us.
Owner DG Fitton
MSPG owner DG Fitton was born with the sea coursing through his veins and a boat rocking under his feet. Raised in a nautical family, he quickly found his way onto his own boats where he gained pleasure not only from their recreational value but also from figuring out and understanding how they worked. DG put this knowledge to good use working in boatyards and yacht clubs as a teen, where boats and the water also kept him out of serious trouble.
This formative interest in and understanding of the inner workings of sail and powerboats put DG on course to the marine electronics, systems installation, and maintenance profession. He now keeps himself out of trouble working on a wide variety of boats, spanning from fishing kayaks to nuclear submarines (and everything in between). DG has over 20 years of experience working with a wide and varied range of clients: mega-yacht owners, commercial fisherman, racing sailors, average Joes, the United States Navy, the United States Coast Guard, the NYPD, the State of Connecticut, SeaTow, The Fisher’s Island Ferry, Towboat US and numerous boatyards and marinas from Maine to Maryland.
DG’s interest in recreational and commercial boating extends beyond operating Marine Special Products Group, and he currently serves on the Board of Directors of the Connecticut Marine Trades Association.
When asked what the most important things on a boat are, DG will invariably reply “The three C’s: a Compass, Charts, and Common Sense”. The first two can be purchased at nearly any chandlery, but the last one is a bit tougher. That said, DG will happily lend his practical wisdom to any of his clients – it comes free of charge with the price of an installation.
